Sir, – As a non-driver I rely on public transport. Because I live within the “central hub” of Dublin I can avail of a regular efficient service. I know that, whether I am going north or south, I will have to wait no more than 10 minutes for a bus (Sundays and bank holidays slightly longer).
In this regard I am extremely lucky and this privilege is not shared by many outside Dublin.
I suggest that instead of spending ¤9 billion on a metro system from Dublin Airport, essentially a vanity project which will cause untold disruption and result in very little benefit to the vast majority, we devote the money to providing the rest of the country with the sort of service that I take for granted.
We could use a proportion of the funds to create a regular bus service to the airport. – Yours, etc,
