Sir, – Ireland’s economy is thriving; notwithstanding the social media naysayers, we don’t live in a failed state; of course there are problems just as there are in every country on earth; most people are likely relatively content with their lot.
Parties such as Sinn Féin promising little more than slogans such as “change” have now got their answer: people, in general, much prefer “competence” and “incremental improvement” as they look around with horror at what “change” has brought and is bringing to other countries, many of which have been our allies traditionally. There are clear lessons for all politicians here, if they wish to go looking for them. – Yours, etc,
