Sir, – Taoiseach Simon Harris has been repeating that there will not be an early general election, saying that the electorate didn’t vote for change in the recent local and European elections (“Taoiseach rules out early general election despite push within Government parties for October vote”, News, June 15th). But isn’t it the case that some politicians, especially those whose colleagues performed abysmally, are blue in the face telling us that there is a world of difference between local and general elections? – Yours, etc,
PETER DECLAN O’HALLORAN,
Belturbet,
Co Cavan.
