Sir, – Last Friday, the unimaginable happened and our fluffy little white dog absconded during a walk in the Carrickgollogan woods, near Shankill, Co Dublin.
We searched into the night, guided by suspected sightings on social media and supported by a good number of kind strangers.
On Saturday morning, a scared white dog was spotted in Shanganagh Park, over 5km away from the forest.
I am overwhelmed by the genuine kindness and humanity of complete strangers who helped us search in person and guide the search online.

In a world where we fear strangers and demonise social media, on this occasion both were a force for good.
To everyone who helped us find Raymond, thank you, and may your kindness be returned to you a thousand times. – Yours, etc,
