Sir, – A correspondent expresses her irritation and disappointment caused by a group of young people on a recent train journey (Letters, September 19th).

One does not have to be totally misanthropic to realise that Jean-Paul Sartre was not wrong when he wrote “hell is other people”. – Yours, etc,
