Sir, – The Samuel Beckett Bridge must be one of the most recognisable symbols of Dublin, and on a calm, crisp autumnal evening when it is lit up and reflecting on the Liffey, it is easy to see why. What a shame it is then that many of the lights on the bridge are broken and often go unreplaced for long periods. If the Eiffel Tower had broken lights, it would be a national embarrassment in France, so why do those responsible care less about maintaining the architectural beauty of our city? – Yours, etc,
DONAL MURPHY,
Dublin 1.
