Sir, – Miriam Lord’s article “‘Agent Cobalt’ fills role of Banquo’s ghost as Oireachtas amuses itself” (Dáil Sketch, October 19th) was, as always, excellent and entertaining.
If the Russians thought they had recruited another Burgess, Maclean, or Philby, they must be indeed bitterly disappointed by now. Cobalt probably poses a greater threat to the Russians than to Irish national security.
Perhaps the best advice one could give “Agent Cobalt” would be to stay clear of windows, and be wary of visitors from the east bearing gifts. – Yours, etc,
