Sir, – John O’Brien is correct when he writes: “I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing for the Green Party to be cut loose by Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael” (Letters, November 21st).
Unlike the Labour Party’s infamous last stint in government, the Greens have stood firm and implemented a plethora of their policies, some of them clearly not popular with the public and mouthy Independent TDs, but that will be seen in the long run to benefit all of society.
Unfortunately, the likability of Eamon Ryan is missing this time around, but credit where credit is due to the former party leader and some of his hard-working colleagues for standing up to the big boys and enabling real change. – Is mise,
