Good luck to Simon Harris in his efforts to change investment risk appetites

Once bitten, twice shy – so twice bitten, stay away apparently holds

The Irish Times - Letters to the Editor.

Sir, – John McManus’s article notes “the middle class’s jaundiced attitude to investing” followed two negative experiences involving “Eircom shares and the banking debacle” (Why the middle class will not invest, Business, February 18th).

The Me & My Money column in your Tuesday’s business section interviews a wide variety of people and asks the question “do you invest in shares and/or cryptocurrency?”

The answer is invariably no. Once bitten, twice shy, so twice bitten, stay away apparently holds. Good luck to Minister for Finance Simon Harris in his endeavours to change risk appetites and get those bank deposits into productive investments. – Yours, etc,
