Sir, – Kieran Devaney heard his first ice cream van of the year in Sligo (Letters, March 5th).

If he lived in Whitehall in Dublin, the approach of the van would be heralded by The Teddy Bears’ Picnic every night, all year long. Every night. – Yours, etc,
