Sir, – As a consequence of the current war in Iran and the resulting shortage and rise in oil and gas prices, I hope we speed up solar energy projects and do whatever it takes to encourage people to install panels to capture sunlight, the energy that is free and belongs to everyone. This war has warned us that the sooner we can rely on our own energy sources, the better. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – We are now seeing the effect the US-Israel war is having on fuel supply and prices. There was a proposal for a liquefied national gas terminal in Ireland to store fuel. I wonder is that proposal sitting on a Minister’s desk gathering dust. No politician in Ireland, it seems, will make a decision if it is unpopular or will cost them votes in a general election. Politicians are supposed to work for the benefit of the country. – Yours, etc,
