Dublin’s spoofers? Rugby fans and Bloomsday experts

Something that makes not an ounce of sense to anyone – least of all themselves

The Irish Times - Letters to the Editor.

Sir,- I really enjoy the letters page. After reading recent contributions from Séamus Ó’ Loingsigh and Ned Hanlon (March 10th and 17th) regarding the game of rugby and the supporting parlance I couldn’t help but reflect on the link between the game and another upcoming Irish passion – Bloomsday.

Both facilitate “spoofers” presenting as experts wandering in and out of well-heeled south city bars while loudly expressing their love and knowledge of something that makes not an ounce of sense to anyone – least of all themselves. – Yours, etc,

TONY BRIDGEMAN,

Ashtown,
