Sir, - James Lowe’s word perfect farewell message is clearly from the heart, but also heartbreaking. It is a message that rises above the heartless reality of professional sports.

He enriched our lives with his passion, honesty and sheer commitment - Japan rugby’s gain is Ireland’s loss.

And I will miss his bright-eyed face and smile on my morning walk through UCD. Thanks for the memories James. - Yours, etc,
