Madam, - Events concerning Cuba - whether it be the economy, the socialist system, the colourful ambience or the US embargo - are always treated with great sympathy and interest by the Irish public, perhaps because we feel there is an aspect of David and Goliath about Cuba's fight to survive.
But is there anything we can do to help? It strikes me that we have good relations with the US, which has come to our aid recently to help solve the intractable problems of Northern Ireland.
Why shouldn't we help with the intractable problems between the US and Cuba? We have the experience and the expertise to make a difference. - Yours, etc,
PAUL QUILLIGAN, Bloomfield Avenue, Portobello, Dubin 8.
