Sir, – It is disappointing that your correspondents (June 9th)have so little good to say about Fintan O'Toole's suggestion (Opinion & Analysis, June 5th) that we should replace the outdated, militaristic, anti-British Amhrán na bhFiann with something more modern and inclusive. If we are ever seriously to contemplate Irish unity, there will have to be a far deeper and more radical revision of our national symbols – notably the Constitution and the flag – than a mere change of anthem, in order to recognise the proud British culture of our 900,000 new unionist fellow citizens. – Yours, etc,
