Sir, – Bank of Ireland’s controversial “Welcome home mam” advert where the bank attempts to give the impression that they care for the elderly, have most definitely failed to do so in my case.
I am an octogenarian and recently had the need to get change of a €50 note. There is a Bank of Ireland less than a two-minute walk from my house, so I ventured in and asked at the counter if they would be kind enough to change a €50 note for me. As I am not a Bank of Ireland customer, I was refused such a seemingly simple request.
It appears I’ll have to sell my house and move into my son or daughter’s remortgaged house from Bank of Ireland before they’ll break my €50.
– Yours, etc, WESLEY J BECK, Roscrea, Co Tipperary.
