Sir, – Congratulations to the Garda Air Support Unit who spotted that the recent fire on Bray Head in Co Wicklow revealed an “Éire” sign from “The Emergency” days (“Air Corps discover WW2 hillside Éire sign after more than 70 years”, Home News, August 6th).
May I suggest that this sign be fully restored (along with the other “Éire” signs still in existence around our coasts), or changed to say “EU” to assist our friends from across the water escaping Brexit UK?
The least we can do is ensure these unfortunate people are over the correct territory when they jump by parachute from their home-made gliders, hot-air balloons, or light aircraft. I am sure one hard landing is enough already. – Yours, etc,
JUDITH GOLDBERGER,
