Sir, – We may have a few so-called bangers still on the roads today and kept there with the help of a few spanners, the odd hammer and loads of oily-skinned knuckles. What we will not see in 30 years are the now gleaming e-cars because while we may still have the bangers, we certainly won’t have the chips! – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I became the proud owner of a 00 car 10 years ago, and the “Millenium Babe”, a Toyota Yaris, is still motoring on. Our four sons have learned how to drive in her (which was my original purpose for buying her) but we all love driving her despite her many rattles and lack of mod cons. She’s a zippy little car that always passes her NCT with flying colours! She actually runs rings around our “newer” car, an 06 Corolla! – Yours, etc,
