A chara, – Status Red wind warning for the entire EU from 6am until midnight on March 29th, as various actors endeavour to explain at least three versions of the dreaded backstop. – Is mise,
LOMAN Ó LOINGSIGH,
Dublin 24.
Sir, – Monday night’s documents clarifying the agreement between UK and EU sound like pages from a book called Backstop for Dummies.
That the UK can trigger arbitration if it feels the EU isn’t doing enough to find the mysterious “alternative arrangements” for the Border sounds odd.
Surely it is up to the party changing things, ie the UK, to solve problems of its making, not others. – Yours, etc,
AVRIL HEDDERMAN,
Stillorgan,
Co Dublin.
Sir, – “We’re leaving the EU on March 29th”, said Theresa May.
But what year? – Yours, etc,
PAUL DELANEY,
Dalkey,
Co Dublin.
Sir, – It would be unspeakable to suggest another referendum on Brexit, but you can have as many votes as you like until you get the answer you want in the House of Commons. Funny old world. – Yours, etc,
ALEC QUINN,
Limerick.
