Sir,– Given the fact that no census of population was taken in 1921, researchers must now wait until 1927 for the publication of the 1926 census returns. Would it not be sensible to relax the hundred-year rule to 80 years? This would release enormous information to researchers. Further assistance could be rendered if all church records (which pre-date civil records significantly) were published on the excellent Department of Culture’s website Irishgenealogy.ie. – Yours, etc,
