Sir, – No doubt there was a particular reason why the image of Che Guevara now adorns an Irish stamp even though, with so many murderers to choose from, the stamp designers must have been spoiled for choice. Was it because in a special way he demonstrated more clearly than most killers what hate speech means when he wrote: “Hatred is the central element of our struggle! Hatred that is intransigent . . . hatred so violent that it propels a human being beyond his natural limitations, making him a violent and cold-blooded killing machine . . . We reject any peaceful approach. Violence is inevitable. To establish socialism rivers of blood must flow!” – Yours, etc,
