Madam, - We live in hope, but Rosemary Doorly (February 25th) may have a long wait for married priests and women priests (not to mention married women priests).

However, the good Lord does not leave us bereft. There are lay Catechists, Ministers of the Eucharist and Ministers of the Word. Parishioners can come together for prayer and reading of the Word; the Eucharist can be given to those who are ill or cannot travel.

Maybe this is the time to remind us that Vatican II said that the laity should not be "silent spectators" at the liturgy. By our Baptism we are all bearers of the Good News. - Yours, etc.,
