Madam, - Your front-page report of December 27th yet again highlights recent concerns about the definition of the family in the Constitution. It is my view that the recent Supreme Court ruling in the Baby Ann case brings into focus yet again the failure of the Constitution to specifically define children's rights and adequately protect them.
The case shows the imbalance in the way children from marital and non-marital families are treated in the eyes of the law. "Inalienable and imprescriptable" rights must be afforded equally to the entire family in all its forms.
- Yours, etc,
VICTOR BOYHAN, Grange Crescent, Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
