Sir, - John Waters, (Opinion, March 9th) paints a dismal picture of much of the media and particularly RTE's departure from responsible journalism. I totally agree with him. And yet, in the same paper, another fine article from David Shanks on East Timor, this time on the resistance leader Xanana Gusmao, and my wounded faith in the media is restored. While there are journalists like John Pilger and David Shanks, there's hope, and a lot of bloody hope at that. - Yours, etc.,
