Sir – Johnny Watterson ("Davy Tweed: Secondrow. Four caps. Paedophile. Wife beater. Bigot," November 19th) perfectly summed up David Tweed's contribution to the world.
Tributes paid to him after his death are indeed nauseating to his victims and most decent people.
The Irish Rugby Football Union frequently acknowledge their responsibility and commitment to the core values of the game – respect, inclusivity, equality and integrity.
I wish to encourage the IRFU to raise awareness of, and take a stand against domestic violence by posthumously stripping Tweed of his four Ireland caps for bringing the game into disrepute.
Tweed’s presence in the annals of Irish rugby is a stain and an affront to all the women and girls who play the game in this country’s four provinces.
I appeal to the IRFU to erase this stain of domestic abuse by posthumously stripping Tweed of his four caps.
– Yours, etc,
ROB HANNON,
Dalkey, Co Dublin.
