Madam, - The death of Niall Andrews was a great loss to this family, friends and the country. All politicians from different political views respected his work on human rights and his support for the poor of the world.
Niall was a true friend of many wrongfully imprisoned persons through his long career in politics. These included the Birmingham Six and Guildford Four. Even though he was retired I was fortunate enough to work with him on his last case - for five Cubans imprisoned in the U.S.
Niall believed passionately in justice and equality even when it was not popular. Once again, I give my deepest sympathy to his family. - Yours, etc,

Madam, - On behalf of five Cuban political prisoners currently incarcerated in the United States we would like to extend our sympathies to the relatives of Niall Andrews.
Niall was a true friend to many illegally imprisoned people through the years and the Miami Five are proud to have had his support and encouragement in their struggle for justice. He was fearless in his determination to correct an injustice regardless of the personal cost and his mere presence exposed spineless politicians of all parties. We will miss him greatly. - Yours, etc,
