Sir, – Barry Hennessy (July 25th) wonders why Brazilians are employed when, he says, "young people and students" could presumably fill many of the part- time jobs these young Brazilians appear to be doing. No they couldn't.
I have Motor Neurone Disease and I am dependent on others to give me personal care throughout the night. Without the professional care given to me by Brazilian nurses, Indian nurses and carers from Africa and Asia, the quality of my life would be forfeit. Irish/EU citizens simply don’t want the job of caring for highly vulnerable people. – Yours, etc,
ROLAND EVANS,
Co Dublin.
