Madam, - As a Catholic I was surprised and disappointed to read your report that Primates Brady and Eames have expressed concern about a concelebrated Mass by Catholic priests and a Church of Ireland minister in the Augustinian Priory in Drogheda.

Was it not Christ who said, "Where two or three are gathered together in my name I am there among them"?

The scribes and pharisees are still among us! - Yours, etc,

Madam, - How heartening it was to read of the concelebrated Mass in Drogheda. Those who concelebrated and those who were present appear to have found joy in the greatness that unites the Christian traditions despite the differences that have developed through centuries of religious and political struggle.

At this time, when we recall in our Christian rituals the last days and acts of the historical Jesus and celebrate the richness and numinosity of his teachings, it seems appropriate that we recognise and even celebrate difference while not allowing them to overshadow our vital oneness.

What a powerful symbol, when that ability to transcend difference and reach the deeper truth of unity is made visible at a Christian altar. - Yours, etc,

Madam, - Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord! What a historic event to have a priest of the Anglican tradition concelebrate Mass, "in all its fullness", with priests of the Roman tradition.

Full marks to all concerned. This is not ecumenism - this is getting back to the roots of Christianity. - Yours, etc,
