Madam, - Just one example I came across recently of the very real consequences of right-wing economics in a booming economy: a successful project in Fatima Mansions is closing down due to a lack of funding. The project, known as "The Homework Club", has been operating successfully for the past six years.
In it, the children of one of Ireland's most deprived areas do their homework, learn computer skills, play together, and revise the normal school curriculum under part-voluntary and part-paid supervision. It has directly contributed to an increase in the children's enthusiasm for education and their own self-esteem.
