Madam, - The report by Arthur Beesley (July 3rd) on the possibility of the peace campaigner and former UN Assistant General Secretary Mr Denis Halliday contesting the presidential election is something to be excited about. He is a person of ability, experience and integrity.
Mr Halliday has the vision of Parnell and the steel of Davitt. It would be great to see a broad front of progressive political people coming out and supporting him. We need to challenge the conservative parties on the island and show leadership on issues such as justice, equality and peace. - Yours, etc.,
