Sir, – Until I read the letter (October 1st) from members of Louth Tidy Towns Together calling for no election posters to be put up in 10 towns in that fair county, given the effectiveness of social media, and so on, I had no idea that membership of such a body conferred immediate and unique knowledge as to what constitutes effective political campaigning. Also, how silly of me to believe that the exercise of the democratic process for three weeks a year is more important than the diktats of a self-appointed "tidiness police". – Yours, etc,
KENNETH HARPER,
Burtonport,
Co Donegal.
