A chara, – Your editorial states that Viktor Orban's victory in Hungary's election "will disappoint Europe's democrats" ("The Irish Times view on Hungary's election: a veneer of legitimacy", News, March 4th).
Perhaps Mr Orban looked West and saw the proliferation of wishy-washy “democratic” policies and principles, not to mention our “values”, whatever they may be. While we may not agree with Mr Orban’s “values”, isn’t he, and the multitude of voters who elected him for a “fourth wave”, entitled to hold dear their own values, principles and ideals? Perhaps disappointing Europe’s democrats now and again is no bad thing?– Yours, etc,
