Sir, – I thought I was the only person annoyed at the persistent spraying of roadside greenery. That is, until I read the letter in Saturday's Irish Times from a reader in Westmeath (May 14th). In this country you can still walk into your local agricultural hardware store and buy 20 gallons of one of the deadliest poisons known to man, over the counter. The use of glyphosates will probably be banned in Europe by the end of the year. Ireland has tried to resist this ban. Some European countries have realised its dangers and have already banned its use. – Yours, etc,
KEN BUGGY,
Ballyduff, Co Waterford.
