Madam, - I would like formally to object to the granting of a drinks licence to the Dáil bar on three grounds:
1. Its operators have shown themselves to be grossly irresponsible in that they were operating without a licence, thus breaking the law.
2. There is an ample supply of bars in the locality, so this one in not needed.
3. More importantly perhaps, it is extremely unwise to have a bar in a workplace dispensing alcohol during working hours. The Dáil is supposed to be a work-place both for the legislators and the support staff. - Yours, etc.,
