Sir, – Your Editorial conclusion, “that Ireland’s destiny is European” conflates Europe and the EU (March 26th).
It also runs into the hard facts of the Diaspora: six million people living in the UK are eligible for Irish passports and 70 million Americans claim Irish origins.
The capital cities of Europe have little beyond so-called Irish pubs to link them to the ould sod.
Ireland’s destiny is where Irish people make it. – Yours, etc,
