Sir – The National Lottery’s current ad slogan is “You don’t have to win the jackpot to win big”. We are told that since the jackpot was capped at €19 million, from September 29th, additional monies would flow down to the lower prize tiers.
As a recent “match three” winner, I collected €9. Had I been a match three winner on September 29th I would have collected €10. In November, in the UK lottery their standard prize of £30 for matching three numbers was boosted to as high as £81 when the UK jackpot was not won for a handful of weeks and called a “roll-down prize”.
I can only conclude that in Ireland under the “roll-down prize” methodology, prizes are rolled downwards under a smokescreen of misinformation. – Yours, etc,
