Sir, – Joe Ryan (May 24th) suggests that the park in Merrion Square in Dublin would originally have been planned so as to complement and reveal "Europe's finest Georgian square".
I’m not sure whether Joe has visited the square recently, but from early morning to near midnight much of this admittedly wonderful square is now a parking lot or waiting space for double-decker buses and coaches, with all the attendant fumes, visual blight and noise. – Yours, etc,
JACKIE HILL,
Dublin 2.
