Sir, – I agree with Minister of State for the Diaspora Joe McHugh ("'Open invitation' to return not practical when issues persist, says Minister", June 7th). The Government must also be honest with Irish emigrants about their prospects on returning to Ireland.
However, the Government, and all politicians, must also be honest with immigrants to Ireland. It is all very well grandstanding about immigrants and refugees, but what are their prospects in Ireland? Many, like native-born Irish, will, when they become Irish and EU citizens, move to England or Germany. – Yours, etc,
