Madam, - Many people will have been greatly encouraged to read the authoritative letter from the distinguished archaeologist Prof George Eogan (May 15th).
We Irish are fortunate to have such archaeological skills as his, in his lifetime commitment to the great megalithic sites of Knowth and Dowth, where his persistent discoveries have revealed much to us.
In his letter, Prof Eogan emphasises that the Tara discoveries form an essential part of our heritage: "They belong to all of us".
We, at any rate, will vote for no government which strips us of our national heritage for reasons of utility or convenience. - Yours, etc,
