Sir, – Rather than spend €100,000 on consultants to train staff from the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection in writing plain English ("'Plain English' training sought for Social Protection staff", News, December 29th), why not fund a competition for the public to rewrite any documents they find to be riddled with gobbledygook, jargon and misleading information?
The first item I’ll submit is the department’s lengthy name. – Yours, etc,
PAT REDMOND,
Donnybrook, Dublin 4.
