Madam, - Like many people, I was taken aback when I read reports that on average TDs will earn just over €100,000 next year. However, I was wholly disgusted at the way some of the media, basing their argument on the fact that the Dáil was in session for 97 days this year, reported that a TD will earn €1000 a day.
If we use this same logic and compare, for example, Dáil time with radio time, we could then assume that Morning Ireland presenters work only 10 hours a week; that Gerry Ryan must have a great life with only three hours a day to work for his reported €300,000 pay packet; and that Pat Kenny must be the highest paid man per hour in Ireland. - Yours, etc,
EVA HEFFERNAN, Meakstown, Dublin 11.
