Sir, – The beauty of providing for pollinators (William Murphy, Letters, February 21st) is that neglect is best. Let the weeds and wildflowers thrive.
Difficulty arises usually when a property moves on to another owner – one who is persuaded by lazy builders and thoughtless architects that covering over the front patch is their only option. It never is.
One cubic metre can always be found for a blossom tree which will look after itself and which will provide a source of nourishment for nature’s diminishing stock of wonderful bugs, or a tiny grass knoll for worms and garden birds. – Yours, etc,
