Sir, – Your piece on the renowned architect Kevin Roche ("Distinguished Irish architect Kevin Roche dies aged 96", News, March 2nd) omits mention of Mitchelstown, where he was brought up.
His first work was to design a large piggery there, one where my grandfather subsequently worked.
My mother loved to tell the story that when asked his opinion of his first architectural venture, Kevin Roche is said to have remarked: “Well, I never heard a single complaint from any of the tenants.” – Yours, etc,
