Sir, – The announcement of the death of broadcaster and host of RTÉ's Mailbag programme reminded me of a letter from a young lad in Kilgarvin in the 1980s calling RTÉ to task for sabotaging his Lenten efforts to abstain from confectionery by continuing to advertise sweets and bars during Lent. Arthur's response and typically terse solution was to advise the boy to give up watching RTÉ for Lent. May he rest in peace. – Yours, etc,
