Riots and unrest in Northern Ireland

Sir,– We are treated to unionist politicians criticising the actions of the rioters in the North, but simultaneously sympathising with their motive. As the rioters are unlikely to be engaged in manufacturing or trading, and are therefore not directly affected by the “border down the Irish Sea”, where then is their motivation to riot coming from? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – If you were to ask some of the 13-years-olds throwing petrol bombs at the PSNI to discuss the finer points of protocol 16, they would be as confused as I am. But the endless rhetoric winds them up and the DUP, from whence it mostly emanates, will never admit to them that the disastrous Brexit visited upon Northern Ireland is as a result of their shabby politics and their pandering to even shabbier Tories. So they simply blame everyone else and another generation of young people take to the streets with sadly predictable results. – Yours, etc,
