Sir, – For many years, we have heard complaints from people of a certain political persuasion regarding the inefficiency of our education system, our healthcare system, etc. Always, the refrain was that these services would be better if Michael O’Leary ran them. Given the recent difficulties experienced by Ryanair in accomplishing the basic organisational task of rostering staff, isn’t it time to ask if the question goes both ways? Time perhaps for a blast of public-sector efficiency in Ryanair? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I wonder how Michael O’Leary would feel if his trainer said that he would have to cancel a few races over the next few months to facilitate holidays for the jockeys? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – In order to allow workers avail of their holiday time, Ryanair is being forced to cancel flights. However, Ryanair is noted for innovation. All it needs to do is place sunbeds and a couple of coconuts in the cargo hold where pilots and cabin crew could relax when the plane is on automatic pilot and then management could deduct the automatic flight time from their annual leave. Simple. – Yours, etc,
EUGENE TANNAM,

Sir, – The latest move by Ryanair should come as no surprise. It has long been part of its marketing policy to sell lottery tickets in-flight. It has now extended that lottery concept to the actual flight tickets. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Are you right there, Michael, are you right? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Having walked the pilgrim way on the Camino for the last week, I find myself sitting in Santander airport wondering how to get home. Perhaps the grace of God might get me there, as Ryanair certainly won’t. – Yours, etc,

Co Dublin.
