Sir, – I have often wondered why Sinn Féin was so quiet on child abuse scandals in the Catholic Church. It used to bother me about what these abusers in the church did to children across this country and the massive cover-up that took place during and after what went on. It still bothers me each time I hear the leadership of that same church speak about issues of care.

Why was Sinn Féin not as vocal as I would have liked? Now I know. It had its own secrets and cover-ups. Its leadership knew about many abusers in the organisation, and yet it did nothing. – Yours, etc,
