Sir, – One morning last week I got on to a very crowded Luas in Dundrum. I had just stepped on and was about to hold on to a pole when a young man stood up and insisted I take his seat. I was very grateful and thanked him.
Later on in the day, I was in Lidl in Dundrum and had about nine or so items in one of their very low baskets on wheels, which are not helpful when you get to the checkout and have to bend down each time to pick up an item. I had just come to the checkout and was about to start taking my things out when the fellow in front of me looked around and said “Would you like a hand talking these up?” I was so pleased and again thanked him.
Was this my lucky day? Or is it just the “white hair” that does it.
Either way, when there is so much doom and gloom in our country at the moment, it certainly gave me a lift to have two such well-mannered and helpful young men showing me such kindness. It’s not all bad news about old (or at least older) age! – Yours, etc,
ANNE MAHER,
Dundrum,
Co Dublin.
