Madam, - I would like to clarify an inaccuracy in Tim O'Brien's piece in your Motoring supplement of May 16th.
At no stage have I ever said there would be 600 speed cameras operating in this State. The reports that he refers to are based on a recent conference during which a question was asked regarding the number of speed cameras. At the time that information was not available to me and I said so.
Another journalist present speculated that it might be 600 and this was subsequently reported as coming from me. - Yours, etc,
