Speeding And Road Deaths

Sir, - I came out of my house this morning to discover that the wing mirrors on both cars had been broken by a passing car. The driver had been in too much of a hurry to stop and leave a note. What is it in Dublin, and probably other places in Ireland, that has people in such a hurry? On Tuesday evening I was overtaken by a car while driving at the speed limit on Foster Avenue. The car then went through a "fresh red" traffic light. I stopped at it. A few minutes later I came to a red light at the top of Mount Merrion Avenue. To my right was the same car. What did he gain by his actions? Nothing. Except to put himself and other road users at risk.

People in Ireland have great disregard for traffic laws. Speed limits are optional, traffic lights a nuisance that can be ignored. That "no right turn" doesn't apply to me. SLOW DOWN. Some day it could be you who gets killed on the road. - Yours, etc.,
